¡Nos encanta la comida mexicana! (We love Mexican food!). One of the best parts about living in Mexico is getting to eat all the delicious food here. I couldn’t believe it last year when I read the news that Taco Bell had won the “Best Mexican Restaurant” in the US in a poll. Now don’t get me wrong – I’ll smash some T-Bell once in a while, but it sure isn’t “Mexican food!” After a few years of living here, I’ve assembled a little highlight reel to show you just what REAL Mexican food looks like…
In this video, we try all kinds of tacos – tacos de pescado (fish tacos), tacos de arrachera (steak tacos), and even tacos de cabeza (“head tacos”). Those may sound a bit gross, but believe me when I say that they’re muy rico! Of course, we also try the King of Tacos – tacos al pastor. If you want to learn more about Mexico’s most famous dish, read my posts all about tacos and the Netflix show “Taco Chronicles.”
In addition, you’ll get to see what el desayuno (breakfast) looks like in Mexico – chilaquiles (what I call “breakfast nachos”) and huevos con machaca (eggs with dried beef). We also check out some other classics like sopes, volcanes, and tamales.
You’ll also learn about some common meat and seafood dishes while learning some Spanish vocabulary like cabrito (roast goat) and pulpo (octopus). Save room for dessert, because you don’t want to miss the churros!
