In this Spanish lesson we are going to practice using Spanish relative pronouns. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening.

This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my Advanced Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times.

Now play the audio to listen a conversation. Can you understand what is being said? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.

Transcript:
Nina: Sam ¿has leído ya el libro?
Sam: ¿Qué libro?
Nina: El que te dejé la semana pasada. ¿No te acuerdas?
Sam: ¡Ahh! Ya me acuerdo. Jo, pues no sé dónde lo tengo.
Nina: Lo tendrás dónde lo dejaste ayer. En tu mochila, me imagino.
Sam: A ver… ¡Ah pues sí! Aquí está. ¿Cómo lo sabías?
Nina: Muy fácil. Pones en tu mochila todo lo que te dejo. Las revistas que te dejé la semana pasada también estarán en tu mochila, seguro.
Sam: ¿Qué revistas? No me dejaste ninguna revista.
Nina: ¿Cómo que no? ¿No te acuerdas? Las que me pediste para no aburrirte en clase de español.
Sam: ¡Ah sí! Es verdad. ¡Qué mala memoria tengo!
Nina: Pues sí. Bueno, ¿me puedes devolver las revistas ahora? Las necesito. Por lo menos la que tiene a Brad Pitt en la portada. Todavía no la he leído.
Sam: La que tiene a Brad Pitt… Esa no la tengo. Se la habrás dejado a otra persona, a mí no.
Nina: Mmmm Es verdad. Creo que se la dejé a mi prima. Se la pediré mañana. ¿Me puedes devolver las que tienes? ¿Y el libro también?
Sam: Sí, toma.
