Look at that rainbow!

El parque nacional Torres del Paine está ubicado al sur de Chile. Está ubicado en la región conocida como Patagonia. Es uno de los parques más grandes y más visitados del país. “Paine” no significa dolor, significa “azul” en la lengua nativa de los Tehuelche.

Torres del Paine is a national park in the south of Chile. It’s located in the region known as Patagonia. It’s one of the largest and most visited parks in the country. “Paine” does not mean “pain.” It means blue in the native Tehuelche language.

Ride a horse if you like.

Cuando te bajas del bus, necesitas registrarte y comprar un ticket. Entonces puedes tomar un bus al centro de visitantes. Haz una pausa para un café aquí antes de ingresar al campamento. También puedes anotarte para ir a dar una vuelta a caballo. Los campamentos aquí son reservados con meses de anticipación durante la temporada alta. Las carpas están disponibles para arriendo si no tienes una. Deja tus maletas y sal para un día de caminata a las Torres. Es un día largo, toma alrededor de 8 horas ida y vuelta. Hay una vista preciosa a lo largo de todo el camino.

When you get off the bus, you need to register and buy your ticket. Then you can take a bus to the visitor center. Take a coffee break here before checking in to the campsite. You can also sign up for a horseback ride here. Campsites here are booked months in advance during high season. Tents are available for rent if you don’t have one. Leave your big bags behind and head out for a day of hiking to the Towers. It’s a long day, as it takes about 8 hours round-trip. There is beautiful scenery along the entire trail.

Home for the night!

Después de un par de horas, llegarás al campamento “Chileno”. Este es un buen lugar para detenerse y almorzar. Después estarás listo para continuar con el paseo. Cruza ríos, alza la vista hacia las cimas de las montañas, y ve las cascadas a la distancia. Pronto será tiempo de comenzar la difícil caminata hacia lo alto de la parte rocosa de la montaña. Eventualmente, vas a ver las torres delante de ti. Esto va a darte la motivación para terminar la parte final y más difícil del camino. Cuando por fin llegues, verás que valió la pena el esfuerzo. El paisaje aquí se ve como algo salido de un sueño.

After a few hours, you’ll arrive at Campamento Chileno. This is a good place to stop and have lunch. Then you’ll be ready to continue on the hike. Cross rivers, look up at the mountain peaks, and see waterfalls in the distance. Soon it’s time to begin the difficult hike up the rocky mountainside. Eventually, you’ll see the Towers up ahead. This will give you the motivation to finish the last difficult part of the hike. When you finally arrive, you’ll see that it was worth all the effort. The landscape here looks like something out of a dream.

Finalmente, es hora de dar la vuelta y volver al campamento. Asegúrate de hacerlo antes de que anochezca, ya que hay pumas en el parque. Tus piernas van a estar muy inflamadas cuando logres llegar. Come tu cena y ve a descansar, mañana será otro día de caminata.

Finally, it’s time to turn around and walk back to camp. Make sure to get back before dark, as there are pumas in the park. Your legs will be burning by the time you make it back. Have dinner and get some sleep. Tomorrow is another day of hiking.

En el segundo día en Torres del Paine, puedes tomar el ferry para cruzar el lago. Es un paseo con muy buena vista. Ingresa en el campamento “Paine Grande”, almuerza y empieza a caminar. La visión del lago está como para una postal. Hoy vas a caminar al Valle Francés. Hay un hermoso sendero a lo largo del lago para llegar allí. Puede ponerse muy ventoso.

On the 2nd day in Torres del Paine, you can take the ferry across the lake. It’s a very scenic ride. Check in to your campsite at Paine Grande, have lunch, and start hiking. The view of the lake is good enough to be on a postcard. Today, you’ll hike to the French Valley. It’s a beautiful walk along the lake to get there. It can get very windy out here.

Hiking in TDP is amazing.

Después de curzar el Puente, vas a llegar al “Campamento Italiano”.  Haz una breve pausa aquí y luego sigue tu camino hacia el Valle Francés. Esta es parte de las mejores vistas del parque, asi que quédate en pie aquí el mayor tiempo que puedas.

After crossing the bridge, you’ll arrive at Campamento Italiano. Take a quick break here and then keep walking up into the French Valley. This is some of the best scenery in the park, so stay up here as long as you can.

The glacier is massive!

Para el ultimo día, puedes caminar al mirador del Ventisquero Grey. Es otro lindo día de caminata en Torres del Paine. Asegúrate de detenerte seguido para absorber la belleza de los paisajes. Después de un par de horas, vas a llegar al mirador. Es muy ventoso allí arriba, ¡se cuidadoso! Toma algunas fotos del ventisquero y después vuelve al campamento. Este es el fin de tres maravillosos días de paseo en Torres del Paine.

For the final day, you can walk to the Grey Glacier viewpoint. It’s another beautiful day hiking in Torres del Paine. Be sure to stop often to take in the views. After a few hours, you’ll reach the viewpoint. It’s very windy up here, so be careful! Take some photos of the glacier and then make your way back to camp. That ends a great 3-day trip to Torres del Paine.
