Intermediate Spanish Listening Practice – El Futuro Imperfecto

Si te gusta, compártelo

In this Spanish lesson we will practice using El Futuro Imperfecto. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening.

El Futuro Imperfecto corresponds with the future ‘will’ tense in English. These are the rules of how to conjugate the verbs for this tense:

yo hablaré/aprenderé/viviré
tú hablarás/aprenderás/vivirás
el/ella/usted hablará/aprenderá/vivirá
nosotros/as hablaremos/aprenderemos/viviremos
vosotros/as hablaréis/aprenderéis/viviréis
ellos/ellas/ustedes hablarán/aprenderán/vivirán

Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times.

Please familiarise yourself with the following words and phrases before listening to the audio below:

Juntos: together
Suficiente: enough
Todavía: still / yet
¡Qué va!: No way!

Now play the audio to listen a conversation between two friends. Can you understand what they are saying? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.

(Play the audio a few times before you scroll down and look at the transcript)

Paul: Hola Victoria ¿Has visto a Elisa?
Victoria: No, pero me imagino que estará en la cafetería. Le encanta el café.
Paul: Ah vale gracias.
Victoria:¿Para qué la buscas?
Paul: Vamos a estudiar juntos para el examen de alemán. ¿Quieres venir con nosotros?
Victoria: No, hoy no voy a estudiar. Estudiaré mañana o el jueves quizás.
Paul: Pero hay que estudiar mucho. Tenemos poco tiempo.
Victoria:¡Qué va! Si estudio mañana y el jueves, tendré tiempo suficiente.
Paul: Bueno vale. Voy a la cafetería a buscar a Elisa ¿Vienes?
Victoria: No ahora no. Iré un poco más tarde. Ahora voy al gimnasio. Tengo clase de aerobic.
Paul: ¿Aerobic?
Victoria: Sí, me encanta. Después de aerobic iré a la cafetería ¿Estaréis todavía allí?
Paul: Creo que sí. Si no, estaremos en la biblioteca estudiando alemán.
Victoria: Ah vale.

So, how did you get on? How much did you understand of the listening? Please let me know in the comments section below…

Don’t worry if you didn’t understand that much, keep reviewing the vocabulary and phrases and you will soon be up to speed and ready for the next lesson in this course. See you next time!
