In this Spanish lesson we are going to learn and practice more with using vocabulary and phrases related to socialising in Spanish. First we will learn some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short audio conversation in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times.
Socialising in Spanish:

Why don’t we …?: ¿Por qué no …?
• … have a coffee: … tomamos un café
• … have a few drinks in a bar: … nos tomamos unas copas en un bar
Do you feel like …?: ¿Te apetece …?
• … meeting up this evening: … quedar esta noche
• … going out for something to eat / drink: … salir a tomar algo
OK: Vale / Venga
Great: Estupendo / Perfecto
That sounds good: Me parece bien
Fine: Muy bien / Perfecto
I’m sorry, but I can’t: Lo siento, pero no puedo
I’d love to, but I can’t: Me encantaría, pero no puedo

Samuel: ¿Y pasado mañana?
Nuria: Me encantaría, pero no puedo tampoco.
Samuel: Bueno, ¿pues el próximo fin de semana?
Nuria: ¿El próximo fin de semana? No, no puedo.
Samuel: Qué pena, pero no pasa nada. Qué ocupada estás ¿no?
Nuria: Sí, sí, es verdad.
Samuel: Bueno, ¿te apetece salir a tomar algo esta noche?
Nuria: Esta noche me viene mal. No puedo.
Samuel: ¿Tampoco?
Nuria: No, es que me ha surgido algo.
