In this Spanish lesson we will practice using some Spanish reflexive verbs. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. This lesson continues on from the previous lesson in this course which also looked at using Spanish reflexive verbs.
This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my beginner Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times.

Beginner Spanish Lesson 22 Reflexive verbs
Please familiarise yourself with the following words and phrases before listening to the audio below:
Merienda: Snack between lunch and dinner
Merendar: To eat a snack between lunch and dinner
Jugar: to play
Antes de: before
Now, play the audio to listen to a conversation between two friends talking about the different routines they have in their evenings. Can you understand what they are saying? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.

Transcript:
Sara: Puf, tengo mucha hambre. ¿Qué hora es?
Charlie: Son las cinco y media.
Sara: Ah sí. Es la hora de la merienda.
Charlie: ¿Merienda? ¿Qué es eso?
Sara: Es un snack entre la comida y la cena. ¿Tú no meriendas?
Charlie: Mmmm no. Pero ceno pronto, a las siete.
Sara: ¿A las siete? ¡Qué locura! Yo ceno a las diez.
Charlie: ¿A las diez? Yo me acuesto a las diez.
Sara: ¿Te acuestas a las diez? ¡Qué dices! Mi hija de seis años se acuesta a las diez.
Charlie: ¿Tu hija de seis años? Mis hijos se acuestan a las siete.
Sara: ¿A las siete?
Charlie: Sí, cenan a las cinco y media, se duchan a las seis, se ponen el pijama y juegan un poco antes de acostarse.
Sara: Mi hija cena a las nueve y media, se ducha y se acuesta.
