In this Spanish lesson we will practice describing leisure activities with expressions of frequency in Spanish. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. This lesson continues on from the previous lesson in this course which also looked at leisure activities and adverbs of frequency.
This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my beginner Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times.

Beginner Spanish Lesson 23 Leisure activities & expressions of frequency
Please familiarise yourself with the following words and phrases before listening to the audio below:
¿Cada cuánto?: How often
Nadar: to swim
Piscina: swimming pool
Espalda: back
Mal: Bad
Now play the audio to listen a conversation between two friends who meet each other accidentally in the swimming pool and talk about how often they do some things. Can you understand what they are saying? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.

Transcript:
Charlie: Hola Silvia ¿Qué tal?
Silvia:: Bien ¿Y tú?
Charlie: Muy bien. ¿Vienes a la piscina a menudo?
Silvia: Vengo poco. ¿Y tú?
Charlie: Yo vengo todos los días.
Silvia: ¿Todos los días? Guau
Charlie: Sí, tengo la espalda mal y el médico me ha recomendado nadar.
Silvia: Ah muy bien. Yo no vengo casi nunca. No tengo mucho tiempo. Trabajo mucho y por la noche estudio inglés.
Charlie:¿Estudias todos los días?
Silvia: Voy a clase de inglés tres veces a la semana, los lunes, los miércoles y los viernes, pero estudio en mi casa todos los días.
Charlie: Yo estudio alemán.
Silvia: ¿Alemán? Oh, es muy difícil ¿no?
Charlie: Sí, es difícil. Voy a clase dos días a la semana, los martes y los jueves. Estudio los fines de semana.
