As the political world seems to be tumbling around us and Spring seems to be somewhere off in the unreachable horizon, thank your lucky stars it’s the weekend and time to zone out for a bit.

As per usual, this weekend we have a little bit of everything to cater to everyone and help you make the most of a still-wintry Buenos Aires. This time around there’s plenty going on for a more intellectually stimulating finde in the form of story-telling, life-drawing, and a Japanese film screening. For a quirky and totally unique Saturday night out in Buenos Aires, check out visual poetry group Al Ver Verás in Xirgu Espacio Untref. Baffled by the phrase “visual poetry”? Good, it’ll make the surprise all the more worthwhile. Abrigate and have a good one.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 24TH

LITERATURE

In this literature cycle, “Las Sobras vs Las Obras” (leftovers vs. masterpieces), expect to hear a whole range of different stories which will most likely take the form of stand-up jokes, short anecdotes, and poetry. If you’re a willing participant, all you need to do is send a private message to the organizers along with your story. Rest assured, writers retain a low profile and will remain anonymous during the reading while an actor recites what you’ve written.

After all the stories have been presented, the audience will be able to give their verdict and talk openly about their opinions. Authors may then make themselves known if they wish to.
