The Villa 1-11-14, more commonly known as “El Shopping”, was raided during the early hours of the morning today. Agents were going after remaining members of “Marcos” Estrada González’s drug gang.

Two thousand agents formed part of the team assigned to take down one of the country’s most infamous drug-dealers, “Marcos”, who had approximately 20 years of dominance in the business.

The drug lord was jailed in December 2016 along with his wife, but many of his operatives were still running free. Around 4 AM this morning, however, fifteen people—most allegedly belonging to his band—were imprisoned, including the drug dealer’s mother in law, “Doña Lili”.

Chief of police, Néstor Roncaglia, Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, and Mayor of Buenos Aires Capital, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta all confirmed that “Doña Lili” had taken over his son-in-law’s authoritative position and was currently running the business.

The raid was successful, approximately a hundred households were searched. Scattered throughout the locations, at least 45 thousand dosages of Paco—a variation of crack which is generally consumed by more marginalized groups in Argentina—were seized by the police. As well as 450 kilograms of marihuana, and 45 kilos of cocaine.

Drugs weren’t the only discovery, however. Firearms were also prominent within the premises, including grenades, two machine guns, and six 100-gram sticks of pentolite ready for detonation.

Among the fifteen people detained, at least two of the indicted were leaders of the infamous “Paraguayan Gang.” The gang was responsible for a murder which took place on April 13, where three young male brothers and one woman were shot to death.

The four victims were sitting inside their car when the shooting took place, on one of the Villa’s many backstreets.  Over thirty shots were fired into the vehicle.

The Minister of Security has named the mega-operation “Operativo Clericó” because of pictures found during the investigation afore the raid, where suspects were shown drinking Clericó with French Champagne.

Officials hope this will be the end of “Marcos” Estrada González.
