Fall in Buenos Aires seems to mean one thing right now: an abundance of dedicated days and weeks for non-stop eating and drinking. With that said, we’re here to tell you Día del Gourmet has just landed. Offering classes, demonstrations, and talks on both Argentine and international cuisine open to all, the best news is that the events are totally free.

The sixth edition of the celebration of all things gourmet will take place over this coming weekend, April 13–15. Plenty of well-known chefs, sommeliers, bartenders, and producers from the Argentine food scene will take to the stage to celebrate the country’s cuisine and the people behind it.

Highlights include a chat about everything you ever wanted to know about tea: high profile television chef Japanese–Argentine chef, Takehiro Ohno, as well as Pablo Lorenzo, creator of citywide tea house chain Tea Connection, will be there to spill every tea secret there is.

Argentine pastry chef Luciano García will host an epic sounding class, ‘chocolate and dulce de leche for life,’ which sounds just like our kind of demonstration – so long as we’re allowed to eat the finished product at the end of course.

For those of you who call yourselves home cooks, (but in reality just make the same three recipes on repeat) you’re probably looking for some new ways to spice up your daily food routine at home. Head to Rodrigo Cascón’s class on everyday recipes and give your existing repertoire a major boost.

Aspiring bakers can see a demonstration and talk about ancient masamadre baking techniques (sourdough). Ramon Garriga from ‘Gluten Morgen’ (who incidentally has the most beautifully curated food Instagram), along with nutrition specialist Dr. Mariana Koppman, will be answering technique based questions as well as showing you the art of perfecting sourdough.

If you want to dive a little deeper, discussions about the future and history of food will also be taking place. Food writer Tomás Linch will discuss if Korean food could be the potential the savior of the world. Exploring the roots of Argentina’s most emblematic dishes, chef of Palermo’s popular Inmigrante restaurant, Leandro Di Mare will rediscover recipes by demonstrating with a ‘kamado’ style stove, a traditional style of Japanese cooking using a wood or charcoal-fueled fire.

If want to taste as you learn (eating is a part of learning no?), olive oil in all its forms will be available for sampling. Be prepared to become an olive oil nerd as you learn about Argentina’s position as major world producer as well as which one of the many different variations goes well with what.

If you haven’t yet made it to cocktail week, there’s still another chance to get your mix on. Known for being the one selected to tend bar at Leo Messi’s wedding, Sebastián Atienza will bring the weekend to a close with a class on Negroni cocktails, along with a few other surprises.

All events will be taking place over the weekend from April 13th–15th and in the specially equipped Día del Gourmet space located in the heart of Palermo on Jorge Luis Borges 1730.
