Courtesy of new regulations coming from the Ministry of Modernization, cell phone companies in Argentina are about to be held more accountable for the quality of service they provide. For clients, this is great news, especially if you’re sick of having to constantly add money to your plan or complain about poor service all the time.

According to Clarín, the changes will go in effect on March 5. So here they are, in a nutshell, so you can have some easy understanding of what’s coming.

1. YOUR PAYMENTS WILL NO LONGER EXPIRE QUICKLY

You’ll have up to 180 days until your refill expires. Currently, you have 30 if you’re lucky, but sometimes much less.

2. WRITTEN PROOF CLAIMS

The law mandates that companies provide you with written proof of any sort of claim, including via email or SMS. The law seeks to increase transparency, ensuring that companies provide you with updated data.

3. MONEY BACK. GUARANTEED.

If you are charged unfairly, cellphone companies in Argentina are now legally bound to giving you money back –– including any interest they charged you.

4. NO MORE HIDDEN FEES

All plan changes must be in writing now, and you need to sign on to all changes. According to the law, customers must request changes “expressly and unequivocally,” so your provider can no longer slip in additions to your plan and charge you for them without your consent.

5. MONEY BACK FOR BAD QUALITY OF SERVICE

If your service doesn’t meet minimum requirements, you can get money back! No more settling for bad service.

6. COST CALCULATORS ONLINE

Your provider has to have a cost calculator online, so you can compare different plans and know what you’re signing up for. No more being unsure what your plan will cost you.
